(excerpts from
a speech Given by Justice Alice Soo Hon)
IN THE
BEGINNING:
Lawyers
for Jesus began 10 years ago, God gave a vision to a man who was
burdened with the Salvation of one profession. Being overwhelmed by this
burden Michael Castagne shared it with Mira Dean Armourer and together
they met for prayer for justice and the members of the profession. Soon
they were joined by Eileen Clark and Albert Edwards.
The faithful few met in October 1986 at the Church Hall of the
Presbyterian Church on Frederick Street. with only 2 or 3 meetings they
continued at the Law Chambers Of Michael Castayne and our dearly
departed friend Michael Mc Kay at St. Joseph Convent on Abercromby
Street. By this time L.F.J attracted just one or two others.
By 1990 the Lord gave to us our own offices at No. 9 Edward Street where
our ministry advanced from being only intercessory to areas of
counselling and discipleship. In 1993 the Lord moved us into better
facilities at 122 Edward Street where we are presently.

WHO
ARE WE?
LAWYERS FOR JESUS is not a new concept. As early as
the 1860's a group in London began the Lawyers Christian
Association. The group still meets today. Lawyers for Jesus is not a
social organization. We have no leader as such. We all accept the Holy
Bible as the authoritative Word of God and rely upon the Holy
Spirit for Guidance. We feel especially called to intercede and pray for
all members of the profession and for the administration of
Justice. We have experienced God's goodness and mercy towards us,
and His Peace, and have already witness many prayers being answered.
Although from
many different background and denominations there is one common
denominator- Jesus Christ. Our weekly meetings are held every Monday
afternoon it takes the form of praise and worship, and the study of God's Word,
intercession for all aspects of the profession- the C.J., all the
judges, the magistrates, indeed all those involved in the administration
of Justice, our leaders and our country.
